Soko returns to training ahead of season restart
The Cameroonian UD Almería forward is back with the group as the squad face injury concerns before Deportivo La Coruña's visit
Patrick Soko has rejoined UD Almería training after nearly a month away due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Cameroonian striker is now working under head coach Rubi as the team prepare for Saturday night’s Matchday 22 game against Deportivo La Coruña (9pm CET), the opening fixture of the second half of the LaLiga Hypermotion season.
Soko’s return provides a boost to UD Almería’s attacking options, following last week’s welcome comeback of Thalys after the resolution of his visa issues. However, Rubi continues to contend with several important absentees.
Lopy, Chumi, Robertone, Bonini, Nico Melamed and Pedro Fidel were all missing from Tuesday’s practice after Monday’s rest day. Melamed, Bonini and Pedro Fidel did complete individual work away from the group at different stages of training, while Aridane headed to the gym after a pre-session talk from the gaffer.
With several days still remaining before the weekend fixture, the coaching staff will closely monitor the injured players to assess whether any could recover in time to face Deportivo La Coruña.
