Medical report: Guedes undergoes surgery

The Portuguese midfielder has undergone arthroscopy on his left knee following an external meniscus tear sustained in the opening league match

UD Almería report that midfielder Gui Guedes has suffered an external meniscus tear and will therefore be unavailable not only for the match against CD Tenerife but also for the coming weeks.

The Portuguese player completed the full 90 minutes in the previous fixture against CD Eldense and was even the player who covered the greatest distance during the game (12.39 kilometres). He finished the match with discomfort in his left knee, which prevented him from taking part in the first training session of the week.

Following an MRI scan carried out last  Friday, the injury was diagnosed. Early this Saturday morning, Guedes underwent arthroscopy at Vithas Hospital in Almería. The procedure was successful, and he has a good prognosis for recovery.

Next week, Guedes will begin the appropriate rehabilitation programme.
