Óscar Fernández returns at the helm of UD Almería ‘B’

The Valencia native coach signs a new two-year deal with the option for a third

Óscar Fernández returns as UD Almería ‘B’ head coach after signing a new two-year deal with the option for a third. The ‘B’ team hopefuls will be competing in Tercera Division RFEF aiming to win promotion to Segunda Division RFEF with the Valencia-born coach in the driving seat.

The 46-year-old coach signed for UD Almería in the past 2019/20 season, when Alfonso García was still president, however, sporting changes occurred upon the arrival of the new management before the official competition; for instance, the change of first team head coach. Óscar Fernández fully understood that situation and left maintaining a good relationship with the new managers of the Rojiblancos Club. Now he returns at the helm of the Indalicos Academy squad.

Óscar Rubén Fernández Romero has considerable professional experience in football, especially working for Academy youth teams. He has trained Atlético de Madrid ‘B’ and also Atlético de Madrid U19s ‘A’ achieving great successes. After leaving UD Almería, he conducted the Valencia Mestalla training sessions since he used to work for the Valencian club before signing for Atlético de Madrid. He worked for the Valencia CF first-team as a caretaker coach and also in Greek football with Asteras Tripolis FC.
