UD Almería held their traditional floral offering to the Virgen del Mar, Patroness Saint of the city. The first-team squad, representatives of the 'B' and women’s teams, Club directors including CEO Mohamed El Assy, supporters and former members of the Club’s board all gathered at the basilica for the ceremony.

Father Vicente Grau, Prior of the Dominicans, welcomed the Club for the first time and called on the Virgen del Mar to protect UD Almería and help the Rijiblancos achieve their objective of promotion. In this regard, he highlighted: 'Last season you came close to achieving it, and that experience should serve you well'.

Father Vicente also pointed out that football has gained even greater exposure following the recent World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, adding: 'UD Almería are to the people of Almería what Spain is to the Spanish people'.

With these points in mind, he emphasised the importance of unity and addressing the players and athletes present, highlighted 'the effort and collective work involved in a team sport'.

The Prior of the Dominicans also welcomed UD Almería’s strong bond with the Virgen del Mar and praised the Club for returning each year to make this offering, noting that 'the flowers represent all your hopes and ambitions'.

Father Vicente made special mention of the new arrivals, including head coach Xavier García Pimienta and players Pulido, Popović, Mikel Vesga, Quim Junyent, Brian Cipenga and Álex Sola. He also highlighted Fernando’s remarkable achievement as he prepares to begin his 10th season with UD Almería, as well as the presence of the Segunda top scorer Sergio Arribas.

Club CEO Mohamed El Assy, García Pimienta and captains Fernando, Chumi, Léo Baptistão, Adrián Embarba and Nelson Monte made the first offering, ascending to the Virgen del Mar’s shrine. They were followed by UD Almería 'B' head coach Pablo Nozal and captain Curro; then women’s first-team captain Paqui Campoy and head coach Pedro López; and finally representatives of the Supporters’ Federation.

Following the floral offering, the players and coaching staff also ascended to the shrine and signed the book of honour in the presence of members of the board of the Virgen del Mar Brotherhood who as every year warmly welcomed UD Almería.
