Rubi: 'Our mindset is to go to the Alfonso Murube stadium with the aim of winning'
The UD Almería head coach emphasises his team's current good form but warns that AD Ceuta FC will present a challenging test, despite their status as a newly promoted side. 'We can’t be fooled by that,' he says
Ahead of Sunday's match against AD Ceuta FC, UD Almería head coach Rubi reiterated his team's focus on securing a victory. 'Our mentality is to go to the Alfonso Murube stadium to win. We're in good form and we need to take advantage of that,' Rubi stated during the pre-Ceuta press conference.
However, the Catalan was quick to underline the threat posed by the newly promoted side. 'It’s going to be a tough and complicated match. We can’t let the fact that they are newly promoted fool us,' he warned. He also took the opportunity to praise AD Ceuta FC's achievements, acknowledging the club's impressive record. 'They were promoted as champions and since the start of 2025, they’ve only lost four matches, including all three this season. They’re one of the best teams at home, and if they beat us, they’ll be the best in the league in that respect.'
Mthe Vilassar de Mar native also highlighted AD Ceuta FC's defensive strength, pointing out that the team has gone 6 matches without conceding a goal. 'That’s incredible and speaks volumes about their solid defensive work. Since the season began, they've made adjustments to improve and they’ve been successful in doing so. They have many tactical options and, at times, they dominate and overwhelm you. As I said, it's going to be very difficult,' he explained.
On the topic of player substitutions, Rubi offered a stern reminder about team dynamics. 'Some footballers get confused. This is a team sport and when players focus too much on themselves, it’s a sign of selfishness that undermines the collective goal,' he reflected.
