Rubi: 'Our best response to this situation is to beat SD Eibar”
The UD Almería head coach considers that his team has to 'go all out for the win' and add points in threes, playing better or worse in the games. He regrets the lack of shooting accuracy that is the one that helps the most in the competition. He praises Sunday's rivals
'Our best response to the difficult situation we find ourselves in is to beat SD Eibar,' said UD Almería head coach Rubi in the pre-Eibar press conference. He was emphatic and self-critical after the 2-5 defeat against CD Castellón, the second consecutive loss after Elda, but he made it clear: 'The squad has already forgotten the latest results and although it's true that the start of the week was hard with the work being done and the willingness of everyone will stand out.'
On Sunday, SD Eibar visit the UD Almería Stadium. 'They truly deserve being at the top. It's a very good team that is well coached. They know what they're playing for. They're well organised, practical and everyone plays close together, so it's normal that they barely concede goals,' Rubi explained.
Despite this fact, the Catalan head coach fully trusts in his team and in being able to get the match off the ground. Once the summer transfer window closed, with the players already settled in the squad, the UD Almería gaffer believes that his team must 'go all out for the win and try their best in the games playing better or worse. He does not want people to sweet-talk by saying that they are the top contenders for promotion, that they are the best-level team, that they should have more points... All of that has to be left aside and demonstrated on the pitch.
Rubi argues that they are correcting mistakes in defence and now they are the second team that gets the least shots on goal against. At the same time, it is the side that creates the most chances, but as he points out 'we lack shooting accuracy. The moment the ball goes in, things will change.' Then, he reflected: 'I'm happy, in general, with the staging of the first times, in which from the beginning we're creating many opportunities. However, we have scored zero goals. I don't like the second halves because at times, we don't disconnect, as happened last time.' In spite of all this, the Rojiblancos have good tactics and are convinced to reverse the situation from this Sunday against SD Eibar,
