‘Nothing is over. It is still within our reach’
Petrovic continues to believe in the team. He analysed the latest news on UDA Radio and Dipalme Radio from Hotel Catedral
Despite having a long professional football career that includes Champions, Europa League and even a World Cup, Petrovic has not lost his determination and ambition. He asked the club to travel with his team-mates to Cádiz even though he was still injured. During the radio programme 'En Clave Rojiblanca' aired from the Hotel Catedral, the Serbian midfielder said: ‘We were in a critical moment after four or five difficult weeks. I just wanted to be with my colleagues and try to help and encourage them as much as I could.’
Petrovic fully trusts his team and calls for not losing hope: ‘Just a month ago, we were pretty sure we were going to gain promotion; nobody wins easily in this league and it is still within our reach. If we win the following matches, everything can change. We have gone through something similar before and we managed to win again. It will be a difficult game against Dépor but if we really want to get promoted to First Division, we have to defeat them and from there, everything may go back to normal.’
The new UD Almeria club’s talk radio programme not only covers the latest news on the Almeria’s team but also takes the opportunity to get to know players and coaching staff better, such as Petrovic, whose personal circumstances have also influenced his personality: ‘We would need a whole programme to talk about my country and its recent history. There is a very bad press about the Serbians. Not here precisely (Spain), my family and I are feeling welcome. But the truth is that in other places, there is a negative propaganda that makes people look at me as if I were a dangerous person before meeting me. For instance, I remember when I arrived at Sporting de Lisboa, a team-mate told me that Serbia was a dangerous country to live in because my country was at war. I replied that my father had a tank at home. Of course, I was joking’, said enthusiastically before getting emotional talking about his roots.
Also, Pepe Cuenca (Dipalme Radio) and Javi Gálvez (UDA Radio) participated in the radio broadcast presented by Carlos Felipe, and produced by Pedro García.
