Rubi: 'This draw leaves a bad taste in our mouths'

The UD Almería head coach appreciates the brilliant second half of his team, who were on the verge of completing an epic comeback, but regrets not having collected the 3 points. He congratulated the fans 'who have been extraordinary' and hopes that the attitude will be same on the next Matchday in Valencia

It was honours even. After the two-all draw recorded on Matchday 6 by the Rojiblancos, head coach Rubi pointed out in a post-match press conference: 'Sometimes a comeback changes the mood and I reckon the team have fought until the end. This draw leaves a bad taste in our mouths but we've had a great second half, one of the best so far in the competition. Additionally, I want to congratulate the fans who have been extraordinary, supporting us at all times and also thank them for all the effort they make to help us.'

Given the possibility that the point scored against SD Eibar could have dispelled the irregular start to the competition - since the Basque Country guests had a two-goal advantage - he pointed out: 'I appreciate that we look on the bright side; the fact of pegging them back twice, the clear superiority of the second half, etc. But we want much more. I hope that today's match will help us forget the two defeats and although we've drawn at home, it was also against tough rivals and I hope this attitude extends to Levante UD's pitch because it'll be essential.'

The Vilassar de Mar native firmly believes that this team are going to move forward and that at the end of the season this will be remembered as a bump in the road: 'We are fighting against a change in trend that is too strange. Everything that can go wrong, goes wrong. We're fighting to change this, we have no choice but to keep pushing and we'll achieve it.' On that note, he added: 'There has been a lot of dialogue between the coaching staff and the players and we're going to ensure that that point of freshness comes out, everyone is working on it.'

Rubi is confident that the team's graft will end up bearing fruit and that the Indálicos will fight to return to the top flight of Spanish football: 'We deserve the punishment of people thinking that we cannot fight for promotion, but there's a part that is evidence of what has been seen; a complete lack of success. I'm not giving up because we're going to fight for promotion, it's a very long race, we have a good team, a burning desire and great enthusiasm to fight for it.'
