Rubi: We have our heads held high

The UD Almería head coach complained about an unreported penalty on Arnau Puigmal and regretted not reaching the break drawing

'We leave Madrid with our heads held high because we've fought until the end and Atlético de Madrid were looking forward to the end,' stated UD Almería head coach Rubi at the post-match press conference. He said that the hosts have been superior and have made them run a lot, but 'we've had our chances.'

On that note, the Vilassar de Mar native regretted 'not having got into the break drawing because everything would've been different.' With regard to the controversial decisions by the ref at the end of the game, he explained: 'As for the handball within Atlético de Madrid's box, I can't say anything if it was offsides first, but that tackle on Arnau Puigmal when he was going to finish off wasn't fair.'

Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' acknowledged: 'We would've liked to be the ones in control with the ball, but we couldn't unfortunately.' He also indicated before the end of the presser: 'We wanted to protect ourselves more and that has allowed us to be involved in the match,' although at the same time, he regretted also 'having conceded the first goal from a set-piece.'
