The UD Almería forward believes 'it was a very evenly-contested match, with each team bossing a half'. He says the team have taken an important step, but insists nothing has been decided yet. The league's top-scorer also thanked the travelling fans for their support
Sergio Arribas, UD Almería's leading scorer and winner of the second-tier Pichichi Trophy continues to find the back of the net this season. Now making his mark in the play-offs, the attacker scored a crucial goal in Castellón to boost his side's promotion hopes.
Speaking after the first leg, Arribas said: 'We've taken an important step, but nothing has been decided yet.' He felt it was a match of two halves: 'It was a very evenly contested game, with each team bossing a half. We already knew CD Castellón press very aggressively and maintain a high intensity throughout the 90 minutes. We struggled to keep possession in the first half, but at the break we talked things through, made some adjustments and were able to respond.'
Although a draw would be enough for UD Almería to progress, the Madrid native made the team's approach clear: 'We'll go all out to win on Tuesday; that's always our mentality, especially at home. They'll come looking to win as well, so it will be a very difficult match and we'll need the support of our fans.'
The 24-year-old forward also expressed his gratitude to the UD Almería supporters who travelled to Castellón and backed the team throughout the match.
