Rubi: 'We're not going to throw in the towel'
The UD Almería head coach believes: 'We lacked effectiveness, especially at the start of the second half, to have taken the lead.' UD Almería gaffer Rubi shared his post-match thoughts after facing Burgos CF, a game that resulted in another away defeat
'Bad feelings on two fronts: conceding so early again when we hadn't had any sense of danger at any point, and then after the 2-1, the team became too exhausted. We lacked effectiveness, especially at the start of the second half, to have taken the lead,' the Catalan explained.
Despite the setback, Rubi doesn't intend to let his guard down: 'We've spoken that we're not going to throw in the towel; we're going to keep pushing and try to make the most of the situation.' Rubi doesn't want to downplay the opponents' victory and highlights the atmosphere at El Plantío Stadium, but insisted that after the second goal from the Burgos outfit, his team had let down their guard, so he didn't hesitate to state: 'It's something I have to criticise.'
The Vilassar de Mar native pointed out: 'There are 10 games and 30 points at stake. Right now we're annoyed because we came here hoping to get the most out of it, but as I said, we're not going to give up at all.'
Finally, he spoke about the away matches, from which they are hardly getting any benefit: 'We've gotten bogged down away from home. We know they're very difficult matches, but I don't think there's a lack of confidence; we're coming off a great performance against Zaragoza. Today the team fought, but it's true that in the last 25 minutes you can't get so downcast just because they concede a goal.'
