Rubi: We haven’t done our homework yet

The UD Almeria head coach appreciated the importance of the victory over Elche CF, although there is still a long way to go

After the vital victory clinched by UD Almería against Elche, UD Almeria head coach Rubi made it very clear: ‘We haven’t done our homework yet; We have to stop the euphoria because football is very unpredictable.’

The Rojiblancos’ gaffer, who positively valued the victory, stated: ‘We started with a well-focused Elche CF, who were putting high pressure on us and as soon as the game kicked off, they created two corner-kicks; They've come out onto the pitch giving it their all.’ He then added: ‘We’ve managed to turn the situation around and we’ve begun to fashion chances one after another.’

This packed schedule in which UD Almería have had to play four games in just two weeks is satisfactory for Rubi: ‘The victory in Getafe and this one are essential, so we’ve done quite well in these four games.’

Rubi praised his entire team for the great game they had played, but the Vilassar de Mar native highlighted Embarba’s performance: ‘Adrián Embarba put in a great display and I want to highlight it.’  The head coach warmly thanked the fans for their backing in the stands: ‘The fans have helped us a lot considering that the game has been played on a weekday, they’re essential.’

To end his post-game press conference, Rubi assured that ‘we’re struggling against the teams in the upper-middle zone of the table,’ although he stressed, ‘but we’re passing the tests against the teams at the bottom, who are our direct rivals, with flying colours.’
