Rubi: 'We can't fail, we can only achieve victories; we're going for the first one'
The UD Almería head coach wants to start a good run of results this Sunday to continue aspiring to the top, although he warns: 'FC Cartagena are going to make it very difficult for us.'
'We can't fail, we can only achieve victories; we're going for the first one,' stated UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' in the press conference ahead of this Sunday's match against current bottom-team FC Cartagena, who could even be relegated on this Matchday. The Rojiblancos' gaffer does not take the next opponents for granted: 'They're going to make it very difficult for us. They've been struggling all season, but there have been games in which they've really given their adversaries a hard time. We're preparing to face them, knowing that they have strengths because they're dangerous on the counter-attack, they work well from set-pieces…' Given all this, he stated: 'We must be completely solid and not overconfident.'
For UD Almería, the match is crucial, as Rubi acknowledges, explaining: 'We need to win at home because we're not doing our homework well enough away from home. We've deserved more in recent away games, but when they scored in the last 15 minutes after a draw, it affected us a lot, and this is something we're working to correct it.' He then added' 'We're eager to make the most of all our options and want to start a good run of results on Sunday.'
In the Catalan's opinion, automatic promotion can be achieved with 72 or 75 points: 'We're going to fight for it because we still have room to do so. Whether we achieve it is another matter.' Regarding this, he emphasised: 'The one who suffers the most is the player and they're also furious about the situation we find ourselves in. I have no doubt they'll give it their all, and that determination is evident in their day-to-day training.'
The Vilassar de Mar native was asked about the UDA fans and reiterated his gratitude for their continued and unrivaled support: 'We all have to keep pushing to achieve our goal. I know it's not a good day because there are Easter processions, but we hope as many spectators as possible come to the Stadium to help us.'
