Rubi: 'We haven't lost because of an attitude problem'
The UD Almería head coach considers that Dépor knew how to make the most of the first-half opportunities, the complete opposite of what happened in the second half to UD Almería who 'fought to score a goal that would get us back into the game, but it didn't make it to the end.'
UD Almería head coach Rubi went to the Riazor Stadium press room after the 3-1 defeat suffered on Matchday 26, which makes the top zone of the table even tighter. 'Depor have done things well. They got the ball perfectly from behind at times and scored three times in the first half. It's not that we've suffered many more situations, but they've been very effective and deserved,' stated the Catalan.
The Rojiblancos' gaffer highlighted the pinpoint precision of the vigorous opponents in the first minutes: 'In the first half, we won a series of balls back that did not end in more dangerous plays and even with goal situations and they were very effective. In the second, we fought until the end to score a goal that would get us back into the game and it couldn't be until the last play. Obviously, we aren't happy at all, but I reckon it hasn't been an attitude problem.'
The Vilassar de Mar native explained the reasons why he considers that the Indálicos are not bringing the good vibes and level of previous Matchdays: 'They're being less vigorous than they were before because, for instance, opening the scoring is an important situation, which we aren't achieving and today we've encountered opponents who have done things well, and have made it difficult for us. The dressing room are very united, affected right now, but we'll move forward and continue in the fight.'
Despite the defeat, Rubi made it clear: 'A lot of things are going to happen between now and the end of the season. I'm sure that we'll be contenders to fight for promotion. We're going through a difficult patch, especially in the last two outings.'
Finally, Rubi insisted on the team togetherness as a fundamental piece to face the rest of the competition: 'I think the squad is much stronger than at the beginning of the season and that calms me down. I need to find the formula to see which players can help us reverse this small negative situation.'
