Rubi: 'We never lost faith and in the end, justice was done'
The UD Almería head coach admits he was 'frustrated' to concede from a transition, knowing it was one of the opponents' main weapons and thanks the travelling supporters in Albacete for their backing
The slogan 'UD Almería never give up' perfectly summed up the team’s performance in Albacete, where their persistence earned them a valuable point. Head coach Rubi echoed that sentiment in his post-match press conference, stressing: 'We never lost faith at any moment and in the end, justice was done.'
Reflecting on the game, he explained: 'It was very competitive. In the first half we had more of the ball and they sat back looking for transitions. We created clear chances but didn’t take them. Then, in the second half they started better. I’m frustrated that we conceded from a transition because we knew it was one of their main strengths. After that we had to take risks to at least get the equaliser, which I reckon was the fairest result.'
The UD Almería first-team boss also praised his players’ mentality: 'We never dropped our heads.' He went on to thank the supporters who made the trip to Albacete for their unwavering backing and warned that 'we're entering a stage of the season when every match will be a battle because right now every team has something at stake.'
