Fernando: 'It's not crazy to say that UD Almería could win by 2 goals in Oviedo'
The UD Almería goalkeeper and first captain states: 'We're going to go to the Carlos Tartiere stadium with the winning mentality that we can do it.' The 34-year-old believes it is key 'to compete like we did on Saturday in the play-offs first leg.'
'It's not crazy to say that UD Almería could win by 2 goals in Oviedo,' states UD Almería goalkeeper and first captain Fernando Martínez as he visited the UDA Radio studios to talk about the play-offs for promotion to the top flight.
The Murcia native keeper acknowledged: 'At the end of Saturday's match, we were gutted. It was very tough to concede the second goal and lose a game in which we played very well, knew how to compete, and deserved to win. We created the clearest chances, but the ball wouldn't go in.'
'We're now fully focused on the second leg and we're going into it with the winning mentality of knowing we can do it,' added Fernando.
'We're well aware of what we need to do and we have 90 or one 120 minutes ahead of us to try to defeat Real Oviedo. We know that the only thing that matters is a 2-goal lead and we can achieve that, although to do so, we must compete like we did on Saturday in the first leg. This team have already shown that we're capable of anything, and we're going to give it our all to reach the play-off final.'
The 34-year-old did not fail to acknowledge the potential of the Northern rivals and the difficulties they will encounter at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium, which will be packed with 30,000 cheering fans.
