Nelson Monte: ‘I feel good physically and I'm not going to have problems adapting’
The Portuguese appreciates UD Almería's trust and stresses ‘my heart goes out to the people of Ukraine; I hope everything ends soon’
‘I feel good physically because I was taking part in the pre-season with SK Dnipro-1 in Turkey and I'm not going to have any problems adapting. In fact, I didn’t have any to settle in Ukraine plus Spain is very similar to Portugal. There are many Portuguese here and I understand the language besides’, explained Nelson Macedo Monte, the last signing made by UD Almería to continue reinforcing the heart of the defence.
As it has already been reported, the new Rojiblanco footballer comes from Ukraine and talked about the country that he had left recently: ‘the situation there is very complicated. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people and I hope everything ends soon, even today.’
The 26-year-old Portuguese will be at UD Almería until the end of the season so he is really grateful to the Club for the trust they have placed in him. On this matter, he underlined ‘it’s a great satisfaction for me to be here, it’s a big Club with strong ambitions. I'm going to give everything to achieve the goal.’
Nelson Monte, who is 1.87m tall, arrives to reinforce the area directly in front of the goal due to the numerous absences over long-term injuries, although he can also operate as a full-back. On this subject, he explained ‘I feel good playing either as a centre-back or as a winger. I’ve played in both positions. I'm a defender and the important thing is to try to keep a clean sheet and then show the qualities I have with the ball.’
When asked about the LaLiga SmartBank, the Vila do Forte native replied ‘I’ve got lots of information about the championship, I’ve got many friends playing here in Spain, and I know that it’s very competitive. I've also seen videos of the team and I've spoken with the coaching staff.’
