Robertone: 'We need to win because we want to continue defending our top spot'

The UD Almería co-captain and midfielder considers getting the 3 points against Albacete Balompié vital after the last hard-fought share of the spoils with SD Huesca at home in a bid to extend their remarkable unbeaten streak

UD Almería co-captain and midfielder Lucas Robertone analysed on UDA Radio the progress of his team and his injury return after being on the treatment table for more than three months: 'I felt very good in these games in which I've been getting minutes in my legs. In fact, in the last one, I felt sharp and confident, which makes me feel comfortable on the pitch,' he added.

Robertone had a good time in the match against Córdoba CF, which was the one in which he returned after injury. 'Personally, I needed it because I went through a very difficult period, before and after the operation,' he explained.

The Argentinean midfielder has hierarchy and has spoken in the following terms about the new role he has to play in a different tactical scheme at the beginning of the season: 'Playing in the double pivot is right for me because I can have the pitch a little more in front of me, with much more space to handle the ball; It's true that it takes away something from my ability to reach the final third, but last year I played a similar role.'

The 27-year-old player is totally committed to the team's current positive situation being aware of how tight the table is: 'High competition doesn't let you relax. You know that when you give away points, the rivals below are going to go all out and that has to serve as extra motivation for us because today we want to continue defending our top spot. We want to extend this unbeaten streak and we're already thinking about the next game.'

Lucas Robertone concluded, referring to next Sunday's fixture against Albacete Balompié: 'We're going to go all out for a victory because there are very few points separating the teams at the top of the table and we have to remain leaders. We don’t worry too much about others because we currently depend on ourselves.'
