Rubi: 'We needed to win at home; it's a weight off our shoulders'
The UD Almería head coach acknowledged that his team had overcome 'a very difficult match because the opponents played very well.' The Catalan spoke of the improved defence, although he clarified: 'I'm not happy about conceding a goal, I'm happy about winning.'
'We needed to win at home and it's a weight off our shoulders because we have to try to keep as few points as possible from our Stadium,' stressed UD Almería head coach Rubi in the post-Sporting press conference.
'It was very difficult; the opponents played very well and made things very difficult for us,' Rubi pointed out. He said that his team had started the match well, although they lacked the offensive strength of other games and that after the 1-0 draw, things became difficult. 'The sending-off caused Sporting to park the bus. We opened up the pitch, we were patient and we managed to turn the score around,' he explained.
The Rojiblancos' gaffer stated: 'This victory will give us greater peace of mind, it'll help us gain confidence.' After conceding 4 goals against Albacete BP and 3 against Racing Santander, they conceded one against Sporting Gijón. 'We're fine-tuning things, but I can't be happy about that goal they scored, but I'm happy about winning,' the Catalan concluded.
