‘My family and I are being given a hard time’

José María Gutiérrez: ’If there is any picture of me in a nightclub in Almería with or without players, I will hand in my resignation’

José María Gutiérrez, head coach of UD Almería, opened up to UDA Radio when he was asked about the fake news spread on the Internet, social networks and other media. The fake news story was coming in of the head coach and his players going large and closing a nightclub in Almería.

The non-news, considered only as a rumour, spread incomprehensibly without anyone trying to argue it. José María Gutiérrez was affected by the injustice he was suffering. In fact, he mentioned that ‘My family and I are being given a hard time.’ ‘If someone finds any picture of me in a nightclub in Almeria, with the players or alone, I will not only hand in my resignation but I will give back all the money I got paid by the club,’ said the rojiblancos’ gaffer.

He also added that ‘it is really painful that just because someone says that it is a rumour, it already goes viral all over Spain. It's the price I have to pay for being Guti. What does not kill you make you stronger.’

José María Gutiérrez made a point: ‘I keep my life organised, focusing on my family and my work as a head coach of the UD Almeria.’
