Mohamed Al-Khereiji showcases UD Almería project at MARCA’s Newsroom

The Club President and owner highlights long-term vision and ambitions for growth

UD Almería President and owner, Mohamed Al-Khereiji, recently visited MARCA’s Madrid headquarters to present his vision for the Andalusian Club, highlighting his long-term investment approach and the Club’s potential for both on-pitch and off-pitch growth.

Accompanied by CEO Mohamed El Assy, Al-Khereiji was welcomed by MARCA Director Juan Ignacio Gallardo, Deputy Director Emilio Contreras and Head of Marketing and Business Adrián Carrión. During the visit, Al-Khereiji took a tour of the facilities and shared insights into his plans for UD Almería, following his acquisition of a stake in the Club.

Speaking passionately about his commitment to the Club, Al-Khereiji outlined his strategy for the future. 'We're long-term investors. We don't think short-term,' he stressed, reinforcing that the goal for the current season is to earn promotion to Spain’s top-flight and continue developing the Club’s infrastructure and brand.

Highlighting the enormous potential of UD Almería as both a city and a Club, Al-Khereiji noted: 'The city has significant business potential due to its strategic location and year-round sunny climate. The Almerienses are passionate, there are strong community ties and it has a distinctly family-oriented atmosphere.'

The UD Almería President also pointed out that the Rojiblancos' Club aims to be competitive not just in Spain, but on a broader international scale: 'We'd be competitive in the Saudi league and even in the top divisions of France or Portugal.'

Al-Khereiji was also quick to express pride in the team’s progress, recalling a recent victory over Al Nassr FC in pre-season. 'When we beat Al Nassr FC, their head coach Jorge Jesus told us we were a top-tier team,' he said. Reflecting on his dreams for the future, he admitted: 'If I could dream big, I'd definitely sign Cristiano Ronaldo,' with whom he maintains a good relationship.

While the Club may have lofty ambitions, Al-Khereiji remains grounded in reality, stressing that the upcoming January transfer window could bring new additions. 'We’re looking to grow organically, focusing on our UDA Youth Academy, signing players who can develop and of course supporting all of this with our commercial expertise and greater commitment to the fans for better monetisation,' he explained.

The Club’s long-term approach is further strengthened by Al-Khereiji’s media and sports investment background. 'LaLiga is protecting new investors through a more structured approach,' he noted, making it clear that the goal is to build the Club in a sustainable manner with an eye on both sporting success and commercial growth.

Mohamed Al-Khereiji’s vision for UD Almería revolves around a balanced strategy, combining strategic investments, player development, and fan engagement to take the Andalusian Club to new heights in Spain and beyond.
