Minute of silence at UD Almería’s training for late AD Ceuta FC Fan
Players and coaching staff pay tribute to Manuel Carreto ahead of training session. International absences and injury updates for Cádiz CF clash
Ahead of Monday's training session, UD Almería players, coaching staff and support personnel observed a minute of silence in memory of Manuel Carreto, the AD Ceuta FC fan who tragically passed away last Sunday at the Alfonso Murube Stadium. The 73-year-old Ceutí season-ticket holder collapsed during the match between AD Ceuta and UD Almería on Matchday 13, prompting a heartfelt tribute from both clubs and the football community.
The Andalusian Club had already expressed their heartfelt condolences to Carreto’s family and friends, as well as to AD Ceuta FC. Both head coach Rubi and co-captain Adrián Embarba shared their sympathies in public statements, with head coach Rubi describing the incident as 'heartbreaking.' On Monday, the team paid a posthumous tribute with a moment of reflection before starting their preparations for the upcoming match.
In other news, international players Bruno Iribarne (Spain U21), Perović (Montenegro) and Soko (Cameroon) were absent from the first training session of the week. Dzôdić (Serbia U21) participated in training before travelling to join his national team later in the day. As a result, all of these players will be unavailable for Sunday’s fixture against Cádiz CF, scheduled for 4:15pm (CET) at the UD Almería Stadium.
Injury updates include Chumi, who will miss the Cádiz CF clash due to injury, while head coach Rubi is hopeful that André Horta, who took part in part of Monday’s session, will be fit for the weekend. Baptistão, who had been training separately, is also expected to join the squad. Meanwhile, Lopy, who received his 5th yellow card of the season in Ceuta, will be available to play against Cádiz CF as his suspension has not yet been activated due to the referee’s report still pending from the match’s suspension.
The squad will take a day off on Tuesday before resuming training on Wednesday to prepare for Matchday 14.
