UD Almería are delighted to announce the signing of Mikel Vesga from Athletic Club, with the experienced midfielder putting pen to paper on a contract running until June 2029.

A product of Athletic's renowned Academy, Vesga arrives in Almería after establishing himself as one of the most dependable midfielders in Spanish football, bringing leadership, experience and quality to the heart of the team.

Naturally left-footed and standing at 1.90 metres, Vesga is a commanding presence in midfield. Primarily a holding midfielder, he is also capable of playing in a more advanced central role, combining tactical intelligence with the ability to support attacking phases.

Strong in defensive transitions and excellent at reading the game, Vesga provides balance in midfield through his positioning, discipline and work rate. Comfortable in possession, he excels at progressing the ball forward while organising those around him, making him a key figure both in and out of possession.

The 32-year-old arrives with an outstanding résumé, having made more than 250 LaLiga appearances for Athletic Club. He also boasts experience in European competition and is no stranger to LaLiga Hypermotion, having featured 41 times in Spain's second-tier with Athletic Bilbao.

A proven performer at the highest level, Vesga becomes UD Almería's 6th summer signing following the arrivals of Popovic, Quim, Pulido, Álex Sola and Cipenga. 

The Club have also completed the permanent transfers of Miguel de la Fuente and Horta as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
