Miguel de la Fuente completes first UD Almería training session
The first January signing joins Rubi’s squad as the Rojiblancos prepare for a key game against direct rivals Deportivo La Coruña this Saturday
UD Almería’s first addition of the January transfer window, Miguel de la Fuente, trained with his new team-mates for the first time this week under the guidance of head coach Rubi.
The striker’s arrival comes as the squad is gradually returning to full strength. Last week, Rubi welcomed back Thalys after the resolution of his visa issues, while Soko rejoined the group this week following his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. Alongside Miguel de la Fuente, the 3 forwards are expected to add firepower to UD Almería’s attacking options.
After completing 2 sessions at the Club’s training base, the Rojiblancos moved their preparations to the UD Almería Stadium on Thursday, focusing on tactical work ahead of Saturday’s league fixture against direct rivals Deportivo La Coruña. The Galicia side arrive in strong away form, boasting a record of 5 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats on the road.
The Indálicos will hold their final training session on Friday afternoon, where attention will be on whether Rubi can recover any of the numerous key players currently sidelined through injury. The gaffer is eager to rediscover the consistency shown in October and November, when UD Almería put together an impressive 9-match unbeaten run.
Although they have not quite reached those heights, injuries have disrupted the start of 2026. Even so, the new year has begun positively with a victory over Granada CF and an away draw with CD Mirandés at the Anduva stadium.
UD Almería will now look to build on that momentum by securing another important result against Deportivo La Coruña this Saturday.
