UD Almería announce first January signing: Miguel de la Fuente joins on loan

The 26-year-old striker joins from CD Leganés on a deal that includes an option-to-buy clause and is scheduled to begin training this Thursday

UD Almería have completed their first signing of the January transfer window, bringing in 26-year-old striker Miguel de la Fuente from CD Leganés on a loan deal until the end of the season. The Andalusian Club club hold an option to make the move permanent. De la Fuente has already arrived in Almería and is expected to join first-team training this Thursday.

Born on 3 September, 1999 in Tudela de Duero, Valladolid, Miguel de la Fuente came through the youth system at Real Valladolid CF before making his senior debut. He has also played for Deportivo Alavés and has spent the last two seasons at CD Leganés, returning for a second spell after an initial loan.

De la Fuente was instrumental in CD Leganés’ promotion to LaLiga in the 2023/24 season, scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances. Last season, the new UD Almería addition featured regularly in Spain’s top flight and this campaign has already played in 16 league fixtures and a couple of Copa del Rey ties.

With nearly 279 professional appearances, including 68 in LaLiga, Miguel de la Fuente brings valuable experience to UD Almería’s attack and is expected to make an immediate impact as the Club looks to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season.
