The 23-year-old UD Almería midfielder reflects on unbeaten run and upcoming away match against Córdoba CF
UD Almería midfielder Dion Lopy, one of the team's most charismatic and fan-favorite players, spoke about his strong connection with supporters and his role in the team’s solid form this season. In a recent interview on UDA Radio, Lopy highlighted his joy in celebrating victories with the fans, emphasising their importance to him.
'I like going to the stands to celebrate victories with the fans because they deserve it,' said the Senegalese player, who has become a fan favorite not only because of his performances on the pitch but also for his approachable nature off it. He continued: 'If a fan stops me for a photo, an autograph or just to talk, I’m happy to oblige. I reckon it’s important to create that connection with the fans.'
The African footballer also reflected on the team's recent unbeaten run in LaLiga Hypermotion, noting the positive momentum that is building: 'We've gone 4 consecutive matches without losing, with good results and positive vibes. It’s a result of the hard work we’ve put in alongside the head coach and coaching staff. When things weren’t going well, we kept pushing to improve and now we’re starting to reap the rewards.'
Despite the team's good form, Lopy remained cautious: 'We can’t get too complacent. There are very strong teams and talented players in this division, so we must keep working and take each game as it comes.'
Looking ahead to the next challenge against Córdoba CF, Lopy acknowledged the difficulty of the match: 'They’re going to make it very difficult for us.' UD Almería will be backed by 500 travelling fans and Lopy is eager to give them something to celebrate: 'It’s always good to count on their backing, and I hope we can dedicate the victory to them."
The 23-year-old also discussed his personal journey at UD Almería, where he is now in his third season: 'I’m happy here. I was here when we were in the Primera and now we’re in the Segunda. My mentality is to be happy, enjoy the experience and share my joy with the fans.'
Although there is still a long season ahead, Lopy remains committed to the goal of promotion: 'We’ll keep pushing for it and I truly hope our fans continue to support us both in good times and bad.'
