The Lusitanian UD Almería goalkeeper addresses the team's current situation, the importance of Sunday's Andalusian derby against Granada CF highlighting the enthusiastic support of the fans and the professionalism of the Club facing a complicated situation
UD Almería goalkeeper Luis Maximiano has caught up with the Club's official media to discuss the team's current situation and talk about the next battle against rivals Granada CF. 'It's clear that we're in a complicated situation, but we have to be professional and continue growing and training hard, he underlined. In addition, Maximiano added: 'We've defended better in the past games' although he stressed: 'Keeping a clean sheet is actually a collective effort, the entire team has to be committed to the match, but we need more, this still does not get us closer to our goal.'
Focusing on Sunday's derby against second bottom Granada CF, the former Granada CF keeper assured: 'It's going to be a special match. I felt very good there and I'm fond of them. Obviously, I want to win, of course, but when the match is over they'll still have my love.'
The 24-year-old Lusitanian also stated: 'We have to look at what we're going to do and outplay them with more enthusiasm and competitiveness to win the match' and concluded by stating: 'UD Almería vs Granada CF is always very competitive and special for the people of Andalusia. We must give your best.'
Luis Maximiano is fully aware that the team has done some things wrong, but he also explained: 'We're competing fiercely against everyone, being brave in every game and we cannot change that. The other teams are suffering to beat us. We're re fighting and none of them relax when they play against us.'
To conclude his interview, the Celeirós-born thanked the loyal UD Almería fans for their backing: 'It's vital that they're with us showing so much support. In a situation like this, it's something that I hadn't seen in my entire footballing career. I've never heard a bad word, they've never been rude and we have to give them back that affection.'
