Increasing competitiveness in race to enter Spanish Cup U19
UDA U19s 'A' salvage a hard-fought away point against Málaga-based side CD Vázquez Cultural who remain in the fight. The UDA graduates have now been unbeaten for 7 matchweeks, but the goal difference prevents them from entering the top-five
The UD Almería Under-19s 'A' are immersed in the fight to snatch one of the positions that qualify for the Copa del Rey U19s tournament. The UDA graduates are on a 7-week unbeaten run, in which they have picked up 15 of the 21 points at stake, but the increasing competitiveness makes them remain outside the Cup positions, although due to the goal difference. The Spanish Cup U19 is contested by the four first-place finishers from each of the 7 Groups that make up the Division de Honor tier and the four best fifth-place finishers, which in the case of the Almería youth side with the highest score so far in their group.
That fifth place is now occupied by Málaga CF U19s with 19 points, the same as CD San Félix and the Almeria youth side. In addition, Sevilla FC U19, who are now fourth with 20 points. Higher up, already with 24, La Cañada and Granada, and with 25 current leaders Betis Balompié Under-19s.
The goalless draw with CD Vázquez Cultural (0-0) keeps them in the fight, although victory would have lifted them to fourth place. However, it is highly likely that the fight will continue until the end in the six match weeks that remain to be played, so doing well in the games will be essential.
UD Almería U19s 'B' also shared the spoils (2-2). They did it away from home against Puerto Malagueño, who were the table-toppers and lost this first place by not being able to beat the youthful Rojiblancos. The hosts put themselves in front 1-0, but the Indálicos came back to make it 1-2. However, in the dying embers the hosts took a share of the points. The lads cannot fight for promotion as the Club has its other Under-19s 'A' in the Division de Honor division, sit sixth in the table.
The UD Almería U12s 'A' also competed and shocked Granada-based side Tiro de Pinchón 7-3 to remain leaders in their division.
The UDA U16, U14, U10 and U8s youth teams had a blank matchweek.
