Mikel Vesga was one of the standout performers in the match against RCD Mallorca, as all the UD Almería players put in an impressive display. The Navarra native midfielder, who took on a leadership role on the pitch, told UDA Radio after the final whistle that 'keeping a clean sheet is hugely important because we know we'll always create a few chances to score'.

The player acknowledged: 'After the two consecutive defeats we suffered, we focused on the fact that, regardless of how we play, we must be competitive'. And that has been key to UD Almería keeping their goal intact.

The central midfielder placed great value on the victory on the island: 'It's an incredible win, a very important one, because we put in a great shift against a side that have come down from the top flight'.

Speaking about his own performance, the 33-year-old said: 'Little by little, I'm getting my rhythm back, and the more games I play, the easier everything becomes. The level of my team-mates helps too and anyone can play.'
