Martin Šviderský: "It was a special day and also a hard one"
The Slovakian central midfielder acknowledged on UDA Radio that his injury return was 'a very happy moment, but it also reminded me of what happened 8 months ago with the 'B' team' in relation to his ACL injury
UD Almería 'B' central midfielder Martin Šviderský has caught up with UDA Radio to talk about his return to action after 8 months out due to the ACL injury he suffered in his left knee. Last Sunday, he played for the 'B' team and was kitted out again almost a year later. 'It was a special day and also a hard one because it came after a severe injury. It was a hard moment since I remembered what happened 8 months ago while playing for the 'B' team, but also happy to play 45 minutes with my team-mates again and get into the rhythm of the competition,' he said.
Furthermore, the Rojiblanco footballer produced a sensational goal assist: 'I was very chuffed for the assist to my team-mate (Loren) to score the first of hat-trick he scored,' the Slovakian explained.
Gaizka Garitano and his backroom team were present in the UD Almería 'B' match and this visit, for the 21-year-old player, is a dose of motivation: 'I really liked that the head coach went to see the game yesterday because it was a very special moment for me to play again.' Then, he added: 'I'm very happy with the work he's done with me so far.'
The Vranov nad Topľou native is training regularly with the first team, participating in their training sessions, which is why he assessed the senior team's situation in the league: 'The luck we had last year to stay up in the Primera Division is turning its back on us this season, but we have to move forward because there's still a lot of games left.'
Šviderský also spoke about UD Almería 'B': 'It's a good team and there are many players from the youth squad from the previous season, who know what to do because they know the head coach. When I play for the 'B' team I have to be a bit of a leader on the pitch, but I don't feel more important than anyone else there. I have to work hard as well and motivate the others because I'm actually a bit older than them.'
