Mario Silva: ‘It all depends on us’

The Portuguese head coach praises Tenerife and states that two back-to-back victories is of utmost importance

Mario Silva gave another pre-match virtual press conference prior to Tenerife's visit to the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium and stressed that the match will be ‘very difficult’, since the rivals ‘are doing well.’ As a consequence, the Portuguese added: ‘It all depends on us, on our work, attitude and putting our heart and soul on the pitch. If it's okay, everything is possible.’

The member of the UD Almería coaching staff expressed his opinion that the team set themselves the goal of winning two back-to-back matches at home, after having already done so against Northerns Sporting de Gijón. As he commented, regarding this current situation ‘the margin of error is very small’, which makes the league stage a ‘challenge to be embraced.’ ‘It motivates the players and I. That is why I believe that tomorrow we will perform a great game and I hope the side can be more consistent than on the previous one,’ he pointed out in relation to the utmost importance of bagging the three points.

Mario Silva wants the 90 minutes to offer ‘two similar parts and performing better than in previous games.’ Thus, he considers that it will be an open game versus Tenerife.’ In this sense, he pointed out: ‘I think that Tenerife have got high aspirations too.’ In turn, he insisted that ‘with great respect for the rivals, it all depends on us.’

The Portuguese head coach focused on the importance that all players ‘have to be available and ready for action’ because ‘some strategic or positional changes’ may be needed. Likewise, Silva explained: ‘Since I arrived here, I feel that the footballers set themselves up for success. We are in a moment that is not to get upset about not playing, but it’s time to stand together. I may be wrong, but the normal thing is that the players are available and are not self-centred and for the team’s own good.’
