Youngster Marcos Peña knocks at first team’s door

The UD Almeria U19s ‘A’ skipper, who has completed a scintillating season, now trains under Rubi's instructions

UD Almería Under-19s ‘A’ skipper Marcos Peña has become a standout player this season. The 18-year-old player, who was born in Almería, has contributed to a scintillating campaign that will be unforgettable for his youth side and their backroom staff. The player has clocked up 3,000 minutes and has found the back of the net twice.

The Academy graduate has mentioned that he is extremely proud of his experience in his hometown team this term as he greatly enjoyed becoming runners-up to Real Madrid CF U19s in the Copa del Rey U19 final, as well as coming third in the Division de Honor Juvenil tier.

With the campaign over, first-team head coach Rubi has decided to give him a chance to join the senior team’s training so as to continue his well-trodden pathway to professional football.

UD Almeria Under-19s ‘A’ head coach Alberto Lasarte described him as 'a leading, strong and very disciplined player. He is a tactically savvy and intelligent holding midfielder. One of his strengths is that he's a tough aerial threat and difficult to dribble past. He’s got personality and he’s in great fitness shape.’
