UD Almería and Nikola Maraš part company

The Serbian central defender, Rojiblanco since the 2019/20 season, has signed for Deportivo Alavés as the have earned promotion to the Primera División

UD Almería and Nikola Maraš part company after the clause of his loan deal with Deportivo Alavés became effective given the fact that in the event of the Vitoria-based team's promotion to the Primera Division, the footballer would have to sign for the loanee club. The three parties have just signed the agreement. 

 

The Serbian central defender was one of the first UD Almería signings in the 2019/20 season when Turki Alalshikh acquired the Andalusian Club. He joined the Rojiblancos on loan from Portuguese side GD Chaves, although in the following 2020/21 campaign, UD Almería signed him. He was a regular starter over these two seasons. In fact, he played a total of 71 games: 36 league fixtures, 2 play-off for promotion to the top flight games and 1 Spanish Cup tie in 2019/20. Then, the Belgrad native featured in 30 league fixtures, 1 play-off game and another Cup tie in 2020/21. 

 

The 27-year-old centre-back also scored four goals. In the 2021/22 season, in which UD Almería gained promotion to the LaLiga Santander, Maraš was loaned to top-tier team Rayo Vallecano playing 19 games. Last 2022/23, Nikola began the pre-season along with the Rojiblancos and then was shipped out to Deportivo Alavés, with whom he played 20 games and reached promotion to the top tier of Spanish football.
