Marcos Luna backs squad after first defeat: 'We can beat anyone'
The UD Almería summer signing says frustration is natural but urges patience and belief ahead of next tough fixtures
UD Almería right-back Marcos Luna has voiced his unwavering belief in the team following their first loss of the season, insisting that the squad remains strong and competitive despite the setback.
Speaking to UDA Radio, the Club’s official station, the 22-year-old summer arrival admitted that Sunday's defeat was a tough pill to swallow: 'The feeling is one of frustration because losing the way we did hurts,' said Luna. 'But we've shown that we can beat anyone and that we're better than our rivals. No team have been superior to us so far,' he added.
The Zaragoza-born defender emphasised the importance of keeping calm and trusting the process: 'We did a lot of good things in the match, even if we didn’t manage to score. If you analyse our games, our opponents don’t create many chances, this is just a very demanding division.'
Looking ahead, Luna pointed to the need for composure and continued focus:
'We must be patient, take it one game at a time and stick to our approach, things will turn around.'
Reflecting on the controversial red card shown to team-mate Lopy during the loss, Luna added: 'In my opinion, it wasn’t a straight red card. It was a shame because there was still plenty of time left to change the result.'
UD Almería now face a crucial stretch, with back-to-back matches against Real Valladolid CF and Real Sporting Gijón, before travelling to Las Palmas and taking on Deportivo La Coruña. Luna acknowledged the challenge but expressed full confidence in the group:
'These are going to be very demanding matches, important tests, but we're capable of tackling them with confidence.'
