Luis Suarez: The fans have to root for us to take the lead from the off

The Colombian forward states that the backing from the UD Almería fans is essential in the remaining home games.

'The fans have to root for us to take the lead from the off,' stated UD Almería centre-forward Luis Suárez during the press conference when looking ahead to Sunday's home match against Valencia CF.

The Colombian striker considers the support from the fans in the stands to be vital in the remaining home games and, above all, against the Valencianistas because it is the imminent battle. The footballer explained: 'We need them, but we also have the obligation to give joy to them and restore our confidence on our pitch.'

Luis Suárez stressed: 'We're fully aware of the enormous importance of this match and what's at stake,' although he went on to clarify: 'It's clear that there are fewer Matchdays to go, but this is like a marathon. We have to know how to hold on and wait for our moment so that when we get out of the relegation places, we'll do everything we can not to return there and meet our objective, which is what we're all fighting for.'

On a personal level, the Santa Marta native explained: 'I feel great after a period of adaptation and getting in fine shape.' Then, he added the following: 'Goals from forwards are a matter of streaks; I scored a few goals on the bounce at the beginning and although now I'm not netting, I'm happy for my assists and performance to help the team.'

In the first half of the season, UD Almería shared the spoils at the Mestalla Stadium, yet as the 25-year-old indicated: 'Each game is a very different story. They've changed coaches, we're playing at home and we'll have to dominate the game… it'll be really different this time.'
