Luis Suárez: "I'd like to thank the fans for their strong support"

The Colombian UD Almería striker featured again in a match after three and a half months on the treatment table. He received a standing ovation from the fans, who chanted his name. The 26-year-old played around 14 minutes against Girona FC

In the 83rd minute of the home match played by UD Almería against Girona FC, head coach Gaizka Garitano brought striker Luis Suárez in action, who had been told by the Club's medical doctors the day before that he was fit for work again after having been out for three and a half months after the serious injury he suffered against Granada CF on Matchday 8.

UD Almería dominated the Catalans for long spells and needed a centre-forward up front in order to try to score and get the first victory of the season once and for all. Although Mr Garitano mentioned in the match preview that the Colombian was not available to play except for a few minutes, he played the remaining 7 minutes until the 90th minute and as many of added time.

Luis Suárez received a standing ovation from the cheering fans, who chanted his name, when he came out onto the pitch. The 26-year old thanked 'the expressions of strong support that I've received from the fans.' The striker highlighted 'the great game we played against the LaLiga EA Sports co-leaders,' although he regretted 'not having picked up all three points, which we truly deserved.'
