Luis Maximiano becomes 7th UD Almería recruit

Luís Maximiano, a 24-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper who is 1.90 metres tall, becomes the seventh UD Almería signing for the 2023/24 season that kicked off last week after the additions of defenders Édgar González and Marc Pubill; midfielders BabaDion Lopy and Sergio Arriba, as well as striker Luis Suárez

The Lusitanian goalkeeper moves on loan from Italian Serie A side SS Lazio, although with an option-to-buy clause in his deal. He is a goalkeeper who, despite his young age, has valuable experience, even in Spanish football, since he was a Granada CF squad member in the top flight. The new recruit is characterised, above all, by his self-confidence, agility under the sticks, and also by his great footwork and ball handling skills.

Luís Manuel Arantes Maximiano was born on 5th January, 1999 in the Portuguese town of Celeirós. After training in the lower ranks of Braga first and Sporting de Lisboa later, he made the leap to the first team of this club. In the 2021/22 season, he signed for Granada CF, featuring in 35 top-tier games, and at the end of that campaign, he made a move to Italian Serie A side SS Lazio, who now transfers him to UD Almería after the agreement reached by both clubs and Luis Maximiano.

The new UD Almería goalkeeper has played in European competitions with both Sporting de Lisboa and SS Lazio.
