Luis Suárez: Pre-season matches are tests to improve

The Colombian UD Almería centre-forward admits that we didn't know how to find the key against Málaga CF, but he underlined: We are working to have our energy at 100% on the the first Matchday

'Pre-season matches are tests to improve,' stated UD Almería striker Luis Suárez after the friendly played against Málaga CF at the Marbella Football Center that ended with a 0-1 narrow defeat for the Rojiblancos. The Colombian player pointed out: 'We were aware that they were going to make it really difficult for us because although they're in a lower tier, we know that they're a great club setting up a project to return to professional football.'

In addition, Luis Suárez admitted: 'We didn't know how to find the key to the game, but we have to continue working because we still have room for improvement. I guess it's better that things go wrong now so we can correct them.' He also indicated that although all teams like to win at any time, these off-season results give no points. For this reason, he did not hesitate to stress: 'We're working hard to have our energy at 100% on the first league fixture against Rayo Vallecano.'

The friendly against Málaga CF was the third test of the pre-season for the Rojiblancos after thrashing Club Polideportivo El Ejido 0-7 in Santo Domingo, and the one played with UD Las Palmas (0-0) in the training camp in Benahavís.

Two more preparation games remain ahead. On Monday, the Indálicos play the last game at the Marbella Football Center against Primera RFEF side Antequera CF (KO 9:30am). On Saturday, 5th August, UD Almería will close out their pre-season campaign at the Power Horse Stadium against Granada CF, future rivals in Primera Division
