Lopy back in Starting XI after more than 2 months out
The Senegalese midfielder started again after recovering from a serious muscle injury and was substituted in the 75th minute against CYD Leonesa
UD Almería continue to recover players for the cause and in the match against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, Dion Lopy made his long-awaited return, while André Horta was also back in the squad list. But the biggest news was the presence of the Senegalese midfielder in the Starting XI after more than 2 months out with a muscle injury, a grade-II tear in the rectus femoris of his right leg.
His last appearance had come against Málaga CF at La Rosaleda Stadium on 21 December in the final match before the end of the 2025.
Dion Lopy missed 9 league fixtures during his absence, but he is now fully available again and already showing his quality, as demonstrated in the well-timed assist that led to Sergio Arribas’ opening goal.
In the 75th minute he was replaced by Gui Guedes, initially giving the impression that the African midfielder had suffered another injury after remaining on the ground while waiting for the substitution.
However, speaking in the press room afterwards, head coach Rubi confirmed there was no injury. It was simply fatigue after spending more than 2 months on the sidelines.
