Let's see how cup tie between UD Almeria and Elche CF goes
The Rojiblancos, without being match fit yet, will play this Thursday the round of 32 at the Mediterráneo.
UD Almería host Elche CF for a Copa del Rey tie at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium (KO 8pm Spain Time). The starting XI to be picked by Rubi remains a doubt considering the players' fitness after some injuries and Covid-enforced absences .
The Rojiblancos are going to take on top-flight rivals of undoubted potential, some of them former UD Almería players such as Josema, Fidel or Piatti, not forgetting former head coach Francisco. In addition, the Covid-19 consequences are still there and many of the squad players took part in not many training sessions after testing negative, so they have practically not exercised since they went on Xmas holidays.
There are also players who will miss out such as Lazo, Carriço, Sadiq ... And on Sunday, they will be visiting UD Las Palmas for a league fixture.
UD Almería will go all out to beat Elche CF, but Rubi has already announced in the press conference prior to the cup clash that what really matters is the league; head coach Francisco has also underlined this, who during his presser in Elche has commented that what he has begun to keep in mind is their next LaLiga Santander rivals. Both teams have key footballers whoever starts, so the Spanish Cup appointment will be surely exciting.
