Léo Baptistão: Professionalism and commitment
The Brazilian UD Almería forward does not have a coherent explanation about what happened this season, he believes that it is necessary to give everything in these last few games
UD Almería attacker Léo Baptistão has been visited the Club's official radio station studios to talk about the team at this difficult time. In fact, the Brazilian player recognised: 'Until the season ends, I'm not going to finish assimilating what has happened to us. Many things happened that had never happened to me in my entire footballing career. I don't know what explanation can be given.'
For this reason, and despite the reality, Baptistão prefers to 'train his hardest so that in the games I have to play I can give it my all. It's very nice and at the same time complicated, compete in the Primera Division. It is something to appreciate.'
The Rojiblanco footballer has great experience and has carved out a brilliant footballing career, which credits him for being an authoritative voice within the squad. 'We've talked [players] and we have to make the most of the remaining game in this top tier to enjoy above all with our fans,' highlighted Léo Baptistão.
Last Sunday, already relegated, UD Almería won against Rayo Vallecano: 'We don't celebrate the victory, but we left proud of our professionalism and the commitment that we have to the team. Winning against such tough rivals, who also needed the three points, it's something to be proud of.'
The Indálicos want to keep it up, now in Seville against Real Betis, whom they were already able to defeat in the first half of the season at the Power Horse Stadium: 'I remember that I had two very clear chances, one was blocked by the goalkeeper and the other lacked a little more luck. We deserved to win, but we would've done if we did, the ball didn't go in. It was one of those rare football matches... many this season and they have no explanation,' pointed out the Brazilian.
Baptistão made it clear: 'Sunday's match is going to be very different from the one in the first half of the campaign. Playing away from home is more complicated, so we have to wait another Betis, who will play with even more intensity, more clarity with the ball and we can't give anything away. They're in great shape at the moment.'
For the 31-year-old it will be key to 'control the speed of the game because they're going to take the game to us. We have to try to pause the game with and without the ball, and pay attention to the details both in defence and attack.'
The UD Almería player faced one of his former teams on the last Matchday, Rayo Vallecano, and now he will do so with another team he has also played for, Real Betis: 'I'm fond of hem because they welcomed me very well. Returning to Vallecas was very exciting, as it will happen at the Benito Villamarin stadium. I arrived on loan from Atlético de Madrid. It was a unique and very beautiful experience personal level. I had the opportunity to be in a great team, with incredible fans. It made me grow a lot as a footballer.'
After two consecutive outings, UD Almería will return to the Power Horse Stadium, something that the players are looking forward to in a bid to redeem themselves because as Léo stressed: 'We want to win at home for the fans, but also for ourselves. We're going to fight until the end being professionals.'
