Rubi: 'We give great importance to the match against CD Mirandés'
The UD Almería gaffer considers that snatching second place from their next rivals would be a major coup. He praises the 'Jabato' team: 'They're having a brilliant season and we have to surrender to a club that reinvents itself every year.'
UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' shared his pre-Mirandés thoughts. 'They're a very strong team, trained to last 90 minutes competing at their best, working tactically, knowing what they're playing for, looking for nuances in each game to find the rivals' weaknesses…,' highlighted the head coach.
The Catalan praised Alessio Lisci's side: 'They're having a brilliant season, we have to surrender to a club that reinvents itself every year because they promote youngsters from their Academy to the senior team to finish training pro players, but they also get full involvement from their footballers.' On that note, he added: 'They defend that their goal is 50 points, but with one more push they'll make it and we haven't finished the first half of the campaign yet.'
The Vilassar de Mar native continued talking about the rivals' strengths, highlighting the numerous times they have kept a clean sheet in such a competitive league: 'They don't have a conservative style at all, they're a team that, although they score fewer goals than us, go all out for a win by piling on the attack. They keep clean sheets with some regularity and you have the proof in their last two outings, winning away to Racing de Santander and Castellón.'
Another of the topics discussed during the press conference was the situation in the midfield after the injuries of Baba and Gui Guedes: 'We have Melero, Lopy and Quintanilla... We can make a variation in the formation with two pivots and two outside midfielders such as Arribas or Nico Melamed and then, some defenders that we can try out like Kaiky, who has a very good predisposition to help the team.'
Rubi explained what the match against the second-placed team entails: 'We wouldn't like CD Mirandés to go within 5 points, plus the teams that are with twenty-nine would approach us. It's a clash and we give it a lot of importance because we have the possibility of snatching second position from our rivals, even if it's for one day and this is a blow to show that we can meet challenges.'
