Alberto Lasarte replaced by José María Salmerón as UD Almería 'B' head coach

The Jaén-born coach remains at the Andalusian Club in youth academy role after struggling start to this season

UD Almería have decided to part ways with Alberto Lasarte as head coach of the Club's second team UD Almería 'B', following a difficult start to the 2025/26 campaign. With just one win from 9 matches, including 7 consecutive defeats, the team find themselves in the drop zone (17th place) with only 3 points and a poor goal difference of 3 for and 16 against.

Mr Lasarte, who led the 'B' team to promotion to fourth-tier Segunda RFEF and nearly guided them to the promotion play-offs last season, will stay with the Club in the youth academy’s sporting department.

Taking over the reins at UD Almería 'B' is José María Salmerón, an Almería native with significant experience at higher levels, including stints in the Segunda División and the now third-tier Primera RFEF. Mr Salmerón previously managed both the second and first teams at UD Almería. He will lead the Academy prospects in their upcoming match against Xerez Deportivo FC at the Chapín Stadium this Sunday.
