UD Almería Stadium redevelopment to begin second half of July

Revised construction schedule following the promotion play-offs will allow the team to play all home fixtures at the UD Almería Stadium throughout the 2026/27 season without any reduction in capacity

The second phase of the UD Almería Stadium redevelopment will begin in the second half of July, following a revision to the Club's original construction schedule as a result of the team's participation in the promotion play-offs.

Work will initially be carried out behind both goals and will not affect the existing stands or the playing surface, meaning UD Almería will be able to play all of their home matches at the UD Almería Stadium throughout the 2026/27 season.

The revised timetable has been adopted with the Club's continued ambition of securing promotion to the top flight of Spanish football. Under the original schedule, the team would have been required to play their home fixtures away from Almería, causing significant disruption for season-ticket holders and supporters. Furthermore, once the team returned to the Stadium, capacity would have been reduced by approximately 3,462 seats, making it impossible to guarantee seats for all current season ticket holders.

Construction had originally been scheduled to begin immediately after the conclusion of the regular league season. However, the promotion play-offs significantly reduced the time available to carry out the planned works during the summer break. Following consultations with the construction companies involved and LaLiga, it was agreed that the redevelopment should be divided into two major phases in order to minimise disruption to the sporting calendar.

The first phase will run throughout the 2026/27 season alongside official competition at the UD Almería Stadium. Work will focus on the areas behind both goals and is not expected to affect the current seating capacity or supporters' sightlines. Approximately 35% of the overall redevelopment project will be completed during this stage.

The works will include the foundations for the new stands behind both goals, new stairways linking the existing stands with the future lower tiers, and deep foundation works for the construction of the stormwater attenuation tanks.

The second phase will commence at the end of the 2026/27 season. It will involve lowering the pitch by approximately 6 metres, removing the temporary lower-tier stands currently located in the Grandstand and East Stand, constructing the new permanent lower tiers, and connecting the new playing surface to the drainage system installed during phase I.

The redevelopment is scheduled for completion in early September 2027, when UD Almería will play their first home fixture in the fully transformed Stadium, which will have a capacity of 26,400 seats.

The Club have also held discussions with Granada CF regarding the possible use of Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium during the opening weeks of the 2027/28 season should any home fixtures need to be played away from Almería.

UD Almería would like to express its sincere thanks to Granada CF for their support and willingness to assist.
