LaLiga Santander Fest brought together 50 million viewers and raised 1,003,532€

The charitable funds raised will be used for the purchase of ventilation masks and protective gear in a bid to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19.

The huge virtual festival saw Spain’s sporting and celebrity stars come together to help combat the global pandemic. LaLiga Santander Fest, organised by LaLiga, Banco Santander, Universal Music and GTS in partnership with the rest of the LaLiga’s sponsors last Saturday, 28th March. The first-ever global charity festival managed to bring together a cast of music artists, athletes and football stars. They have raised a total of 1,003,532 € from their homes, including transfers from other banks and payments with international cards.

The aim of LaLiga’s initiative was to raise funds for the purchase of medical supplies, which are in such high demand at times like these and lift fans’ spirits who are confined to their homes in quarantine. LaLiga Santander Fest also managed to bring together more than 50 million viewers from 182 countries. It was an unprecedented and historic virtual event.

As a result of the charitable funds obtained through crowdfunding and donations made from every nook and cranny of the world, through the Banco Santander Foundation, the purchase of medical equipment to help mitigate the effects caused by Covid-19 will be possible. 

The medical supplies that will be acquired thanks to ‘LaLigaSantander Fest’ are:

  • 115 non-invasive ventilation masks
  • 1,435,000 N95 face masks (including the million donated by Santander Bank)
  • 12,595 disposable sterile protective suits
  • 500,000 vinyl protective gloves

All this healthcare material will be channelled following the health priorities of the Spanish Government, in coordination with the Spanish Sports Council (CSD).
