LaLiga postpones the play-off competition without giving dates when it will take place
UD Almería now know that the squad will not be travelling to Girona this Thursday so that they will have to rethink their initial planning
LaLiga has just announced that the first knockout stage games of the play-off for promotion to the Spanish First Division have been postponed. UD Almería were meant to take on fifth placed Girona this Thursday at Montilivi, and afterwards host the Catalans at Juegos Mediterraneos on Sunday. However, the new dates have not been announced yet so that this will force the Rojiblancos to rethink their initial training planning.
The new situation is a serious handicap since not only Almeria do not know when they will have to play again but also Almería will not be able to use the Anexo, as their training base grass is going to be renovated towards the next season requiring specific deadlines that are already delayed.
This fact makes Almería have to look for an alternative training ground because the players cannot overuse the Stadium, which at the same time already needs remodelling for the current campaign. In the sporting aspect, the coaching staff and the players have not embraced the idea as they did not know the play off competition dates in order to carry out specific planning.
Now there will be more time for the footballers to recover both physically and mentally. Almeria have been playing every 72 hours up to now, and at this time it is still unknown when they will compete again.
