LaLiga conducts Integrity Workshop for UD Almería

Players and coaching staff attend session on match-fixing and sports betting led by Iñaki Arbea

UD Almería have reaffirmed their commitment to sporting integrity by participating in a LaLiga-organised Integrity Workshop. The informative session, led by LaLiga's Integrity Area Director Iñaki Arbea, focused on the issues of sports betting and match-fixing. The workshop took place immediately following Thursday's training session at the Anexo training ground in the video room, with the first-team squad in attendance, alongside Lorena García from the Club's legal department.

The primary objective of LaLiga and its clubs is to foster a culture of integrity throughout the sport. It is vital for both players and coaching staff to understand the risks posed by fraudulent activities like match-fixing and illegal sports betting. Through these workshops, LaLiga educates participants on regulations, the potential risks and the available reporting channels, reinforcing the protection of the sport against corruption and ensuring transparency across the competition.

During the session, Mr Arbea presented real-life cases of match-fixing incidents that have occurred in Spain and across Europe, highlighting the negative impact on players, clubs and the league as a whole.

Meanwhile, UD Almería 'B' also received a separate briefing before their training session at the La Vega de Acá base.

This initiative demonstrates UD Almería’s unwavering commitment to fair play and ethics in football, while also reinforcing the collaborative effort between LaLiga and its clubs to combat fraud and manipulation in the sport.
