‘LaLiga and RFEF will solve it in the best possible way’

Mohamed El Assy explains that it was Mario Silva's decision to resign as head coach

Mohamed El Assy, who has introduced José Gomes, has taken advantage of his presence in the press room of the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium to talk about the latest news on UD Almería. He highlighted that ‘it was Mario's decision resign as head coach’ and that was the reason why an agreement was reached to end the relationship with him.

In line with the above, the director general of UD Almería also stated that his excellence Turki Al-Sheikh and he are fully aware of the new coach’s experience, José Gomes. This led him to underline: ‘We are lucky we found the right time when we needed a head coach and his contract ended.’ In addition, he expressed his opinion that the new Portuguese ‘has character for this stage of the season’ in which the Rojiblancos are about to enter the play-offs.

Precisely, Mohamed El Assy referred to the matter that slowed down the start of the last phase of the campaign, stating that ’all clubs have the right to defend their own’ within ‘a difficult situation’ in which, ‘it was unlucky not being able to play the last game’ after everyone has followed the protocol during this time. In this sense, he pointed out: ‘We want to wish all the Fuenlabrada players a speedy recovery; it is time to look after our health.’

‘I am pretty sure that LaLiga and the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) will solve it in the best possible way. It will be the best for the fair play of the tournament. I don't usually talk about these issues, but I want to clarify that I have a lot of confidence in the people who are going to make this decision, since they are well prepared for it,’ said the club's general director.

Mohamed El Assy also once again shown his total support for the players, because ‘they had the chance of winning automatic promotion’ and, despite not having succeeded in the end, they find themselves with the possibility of reaching the First Division through the playoffs. ‘We’ll never give up hope,’ he added.

Moreover, the CEO of the UD Almería has warmly thanked the fans for the support received towards himself and the club from the very first day. So, he pointed out: ‘We promise that everyone involved in this team will give 110% to gain promotion and make them happy and proud.’

Mohamed El Assy recalled that the first time he spoke to the media in Almería ‘the atmosphere was a bit strange; everything was controversial and there were certain fears.’ At the time, he asked them to trust the way of working of the new management. ‘We made it clear and that we were going to fight for promotion, so at least we can say that both His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh, and I have kept our word and we will continue to fight for promotion’, the CEO concluded.
