UD Almería Women ready to save the campaign

Striker Jessi has assessed chances of survival and chatted to the Club's official media about their run-in at the bottom of the table

As we find ourselves lodged in the business end of the season, UD Almería Women, who have been embroiled in a relegation tussle with Unión Viera Women for a long while this term, are now ready to face the three finals to save the campaign. Before Matchday 28 begins, relegation-threatened UD Almeria Women have slipped into the bottom four of the Segunda RFEF Grupo Sur with 23 points, while Canarian fellow strugglers are two points above (25) with safety secured temporarily.

Last weekend, the Indalicas recorded a vital draw with opponents from the top half, CD Femarguin SPAR Gran Canaria, while Unión Viera Women lost to Madrid CCF, reducing the gap to two points.

There are four fixtures left to play, only three for UD Almeria Women since they will be given 3 points in their final game against Santa Teresa because they are already out of the competition as a no-show team. The Rojiblancas will face top two Madrid CCF and Levante ‘B’, and later Unión Viera, their adversaries in their tense race for survival. The girls from the Canary Islands have an easier run-in ahead with four games against Valencia CF Women, La Solana, UD Almería and Málaga CF Women.

UD Almería Women striker Jessi has assessed their chances of survival as she caught up with the club's official media. Regarding the Matchdays that remain, she stressed: ‘We’re highly motivated as we don't want to end up in a lower tier; We’re going to go all out to win and we’re going to make it.’ In addition, Jessi added; ‘At the beginning of the season, nobody thought that such a young team in a newly created tier were going to reach the end fighting not to be relegated.’

Regarding the crucial games to go, Jessi stated: 'We've got three finals left, two with teams that are playing for promotion. We’ve a lot to gain and little to lose in these two fixtures against Levante B and Madrid CCF.'
