UD Almería B to face tough test against direct rivals Real Jaén

The UDA Academy prospects will play at the La Victoria Municipal Stadium at 4pm local time this Sunday as they face the Jienenses looking to reach the play-off spots again

UD Almería 'B' will have to visit the La Victoria Municipal Stadium located in Jaén city as they have to play a tough, vital game looking to reach the promotion spots again. The UDA Academy Rojiblancos, after two back-to-back draws in recent weeks, have left the play-offs zone. At the moment, they are 6th with 21 points, while rivals Real Jaén are now the ones who occupy the 5th position, which secures play-offs participation with 22 points. Only one point separates them in the table, so the youthful Indálicos are facing a demanding meeting.

Real Jaén, despite occupying that privileged place, will go into this encounter after falling to a 3-1 away defeat against UD Torre del Mar. However, prior to that fixture, they wrapped up three consecutive wins, which propelled them to those play-offs for promotion positions.

UD Almería 'B' remain undefeated as guests and this Sunday at La Victoria, they will be looking to keep that strength up to take a huge step in the competition because, in addition to be one point behind Real Jaén, the second-placed side are only three points ahead.

For UD Almería 'B' head coach Alberto Lasarte, the event is especially important given the fact that he was born in Jaen and in his footballing career, he was also linked to Real Jaén. Apart from the emotional side to it, the gaffer made it very clear: 'It's going to be a great game between two teams fighting to reach the top.' He then added: 'We hope to be the best version of ourselves and take all three points.'

To conclude, Mr Lasarte spoke about the potential of Sunday's rivals, who easily find the back of the net on home turf: 'They're clear candidates to earn promotion but we'll go all out to make it to the play-offs.'
